I'm truly honoured to be playing Rosa Parks

I've realized recently that I want to get back into sharing my journey to Broadway. It's a long and challenging journey, and I want to be able to look back on these posts and remember what it took to get me there. This is a journey that wouldn't be made possible without God, and I'm very happy I have him to lean on every step of the way.

Many of you know that recently I've taken on my first major lead role, Rosa Parks. I'm playing Rosa Parks in a musical titled "Rosa's Ride" with Flying Ship Productions. The show is going tremendously well. I'm still in shock that I booked something of this magnitude. I didn't think I would be playing a role like this until many years from now, after taking some acting classes, and attending acting workshops, but God obviously had different plans for me. One of my major goals this year was to enroll in an acting course to help prepare me for a lead role. I feel as though booking this role has in a way been my "free" acting course as I'm learning so many wonderful things from my director and the show in general. It's amazing the things I have discovered while doing this role. My acting is really starting to take form and I love it!

I've performed in 8 shows so far in NYC, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Maryland. I had the honor of performing the show for my family and friends right in my hometown at the Woodmore Country Club. My mother orchestrated the show and was able to get her lovely sorority, The Society Inc., to help sponsor the event. I was truly honored that they supported me and "Rosa's Ride" without even seeing a clip of the show. They put their faith in me and my mom, put alot of money into the show, and trusted it would be a good one. Luckily, they enjoyed the show and it was a great performance indeed. This show is very near and dear to my heart. I am portraying a woman of God who was fearless, determined, unstoppable, confident, invincible, intelligent, respectful, powerful, and many more. A woman with many traits that I don't quite embody, but I know God placed me in this role for a reason, so I'm going to trust him, follow his orders ,and pursue this role to the best of my ability. I only hope that Rosa Parks is up in heaven proud of the way I am portraying her. She was a strong believer in God herself and I know as long as I stick to Gods will, she will be proud.
